Windows XP Dial-Up Setup

Before you get started, make sure you have your Account Information. If you need your Account Information, please call Unit Kemajuan IT (KIT) at (088) 288333.

First, Create a new Dial Up Connection

1. Click on the Start button , from that menu choose Connect to then choose Show all connections. That opens the Network Connections window:
   
   
   
   Then click Create a new connection.
   
   
2. That brings up the New Connection Wizard :
   
   
   
   Click Next.
   
   
3. Click the button next to Connect to the Internet:
   
   
   
   Click Next.
   
   
4. Click the button next to Set up my connection manually:
   
   
   
   Click Next .
   
   
5. Click the button next to Connect using a dial-up modem:
   
   
   
   Click Next.
   
   
6. In the ISP Name box, type Sabah.Net:
   
   
   
   Click Next.
   
   
7. Use the phone number 1300882021, otherwise use a number from our Dial Up Numbers List :
   
   
   
   Click Next.
   
   
8. From your Account Information, enter your email address in the Username box.
   Then enter your email password in both the Password and Confirm password boxes.
   You have the option to check or un-check the boxes at the bottom of the screen.
   
   
   
   Click Next.
   
   
9. You're almost Done!
   Click on the box next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop
   
   
   
   Click Finish.

Finally, You're Done! Connect to the Internet

1. Click on the Dial button to connect to the Internet.
   
   
   
   Click Finish.
   
   
To get to the Sabah.Net Dial up Connection window in the future, double-click on the Shortcut named Sabah.Net on your desktop.

Windows XP Dial Up Settings

1. Click on the Start button, from that menu choose Connect to then choose Show all connections. That opens the Network Connections window:
   
   
   
   Double-click on the Sabah.Net Dial-up icon, that brings up the Sabah.Net Connection Window.
   
   
2. In the Connection window, click on Properties:
   
   
   
   
   
   
3. The General properties are the first ones that come up. This is where you give the computer information about which modem to use, and what number to dial.
   
   
   
   
   
   
4. The Networking tab tells your computer how to talk to the Internet. Make sure that you have the following settings:
   The type of dial-up server I am calling: PPP: Windows 95/98/NT 4/2000, Internet
   This connection uses the following items:
   Check Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
   Uncheck File and Printer Settings for Microsoft Networks
   Uncheck Client for Microsoft Networks
   
   
   
   
   Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click properties to get to the DNS and IP settings.
   
   In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, click the button next to Obtain DNS server address automatically:
   
   
   
   Click OK.
   
   
5. The Security tab allows you set your security options. We recommend the following:
   
   
   
   
   
   The Options tab allows you to set Dailing and Redialing preferences. The default options are in the image below, and will work well for most users.
   
   
   
   
   
   
6. The Advanced tab allows you to enable the Internet Firewall for this connection. Typically we recommend that you enable it, unless you are having trouble connecting to something on the Interenet, then try disabling it as a troubleshooting step.
   
   
   
   Click OK to finish.
